No chicken quesadillas for me :(

Thursday, January 09, 2014

My husband and I are going out to dinner tonight, at this place called The Whistle Stop. The only things I ever eat there are the potato skins, loaded with sour cream, and the chicken quesadilla, also loaded with sour cream. Sometimes I would eat both! They are so good, but so bad!

I have no idea how many calories are in the quesadilla, but it has to be quite a lot. It's a flour tortilla with only chicken and cheese. Each piece probably has at least a 1/4 cup of cheese, and a little bit of chicken. Then there is the sour cream I load on. Maybe if I only eat one piece and save the rest? And get a small salad or veggies?

Those quesadillas are pretty much my favorite food ever. I will not give them up. I will just eat less.

I completely agree with teachfirst... you have to allow yourself for those little indulgences once in a while. Otherwise, eventually you'll binge. ...at least I do. It is OKAY to have those things in moderation. As long as you are 'on track' more than you are off...the little successes will add up! :)

Do you go out for dinner frequently? If this is something you just LOVE, and really enjoy it - then don't deprive yourself of it! Just make sure the rest of the week you stay on track. I think that's one of the hardest things, finding ways to enjoy what we love to eat (even when we know it's less than healthy) and including them into a lifestyle.
Don't feel guilty, don't feel badly - allow it! It really is okay - but finding that balance, knowing that indulging too frequently will be counterproductive to your efforts, is what is tricky.
So...what did you decide to do? How'd you make out?
