Help!! Advice is needed!!!

Well, I just don't know what to do about my diet. I have been dieting seriously since last fall-even through the holidays- and have gained 8 lbs. I even tried the Virgin Diet. My dr. told me my system must have gone into starvation mode emoticon . I write down my foods every day and basically stay in my calorie range, so I don't see why I'd be in starvation mode???? I've cut out soy, corn,dairy, most sugar. I go to My rheumatologist in 12 days and I don't feel like hearing the comments!! Plus if I keep gaining I'll have to buy all new clothes which I can't afford emoticon I will take ANY advice!!!!!

    I know your question was about Diet/Nutrition and that you don't mention exercise. One of your earlier blogs caught my eye. It concerned getting some exercise and also that you have hip pain.

    Have you tried seated exercises? There are a number of seated exercise video clips here on SparkPeople. Start slow and build up to longer sessions, particularly if you're not currently exercising at all.

    thanks for the good advice. I drink only water, clear tea and coffee with a tsp of coffeemate - only in the am. I used to watch The Biggest Loser and they stressed not drinking your calories, so I don't. My thyroid is fine, but I do have other health issues. Hmm I just really don't know what to change. Thanks to everyone for their input!!

    Good advice. When you get it figured out I know you will find success. Be sure you are drinking enough water, too. I hope this will be a great year for you!

    your body needs all the food groups each day to be able to loose weight effectively and if you are eating a lot less and working out more that will put you in starvation mode.

    I agree. try contacting the dietican and ask for suggestions to make your body burn calories again without putting you in starvation mode

    Have you tried the SparkCoach? Are your levels of protein, carbs and fats in the suggested range? Are the calories you are eating "empty" or do they have lots of nutritional value? Are you drinking your calories? Maybe a heart rate monitor will help you know exactly how many calories you are burning instead of using SP's estimating tracking tool. Maybe you need your thyroid checked? Are you measuring your portions and honestly tracking every bite?
    You can try posting on the Diet/Nutrition message board and ask DIETITIANBECKY for help. Maybe she will see your post and can look at your Nutrition tracker and offer suggestions.
