I am currently training with the Debbie Ford Foundation and this week we have been working on BREATH.

All of my life I felt that it was safer to not breathe, by holding my breath. I did not take up space. As a child, if i didn’t breathe, then I felt that I would not be noticed, I was safe as long as they didn’t notice me. Taking a deep breath made me expand, visible, real and even alive. That brings tears to my eyes…

Is that safe? Is that what I want? It is so scary to be visible. Even though I am not that little girl anymore. I am petrified to be visible, real and somehow even alive.

Do I want to always walk around a “walking dead”? People don’t notice you if you are dead. P eople can’t hurt you if you are dead. I don’t have to feel the hurt and pain if I am numb or “walking dead”.

This is so deeply imbedded, this is how I survived and still effects me today.

None of the cult members are alive anymore and I am 56 years old. You would think that it would be safe to breathe. I am so glad I have the gift of looking at this, to heal this once and for all. I did some tapping on this but need to tap on it some more but wanted to share.

When are you holding your breath? Do you even notice? By breathing and taking a deep breath it brings you back to your heart space. Take some time today to just notice how you are breathing. When are the times you hold your breath?

I'm very lucky in that good posture and deep breathing are the two things that come naturally to me.

I can't think of his name right now, but the health doctor with the bald head and full beard...Weir? Weiss? something like that...prescribed inhaling through the nose for a count of four, holding the breath for a count of 8 and exhaling through pursed lips for a count of seven (I could have the 8 and 7 reversed.) He said to do that in rounds of four breaths several times a day. I did, and found it quite relaxing. You might give it a try.

    Bright blessings, Jetta.

Hugs and hello my dear .. great reminder because very few of us breath properly .. Breath in to the count of 7 hold it to the count of 7 then exhale to the count of 7 .. I've been trying to do this while on the TreadClimber and TreadMill .. and TZone .. but I have to concentrate I've never been a deep breather either ..
We can do this together .. taking in the new .. embracing it .. then letting out the old and all those emotions that need to go ..
Happy Sunday .. have an amazing day and week ahead dear Spark Friend .. thank you !! emoticon

Great blog. Breath is so important.

I notice my breath when I meditate, but that's the only time.

I think when I'm anxious or nervous I breathe very shallowly.

You can get control of your breathing, you can do this, baby steps.
