Working on being consistent with food

I'm kind of surprised that I have actually lost about a pound between last week and this week, even with my dismal workouts. I mean, I only managed about 3 good days of workouts last week. I moved most days, but I didn't meet my goals (see the last blog) all week and I should have gotten more workouts in.

In BLC23, I managed to mostly maintain my weight, even eating the same amount as I am now. Looking back, I was eating a LOT more carbs. This time around, I've switched to salads for lunch during the week (salads = more protein), and it seems to help. I'm down 2-ish pounds since the 1st, and considering we're 3 weeks in to January, that's pretty good. I'm working on working out more, so I may actually make my January goal on time or a little late. Considering it was a "reach for the stars" kind of goal, I'm really proud of myself.

I'm trying to get back on track with the workouts now. After we move into the house (in a week) and get most everything unpacked (we don't have much), I'm going to start doing the 30 Day Shred. And actually follow it for 30 days. Until we get there, I've been doing some of the other workouts I have to get ready for the 30DS. Yesterday was one of Bob Harper's that nearly killed me. OF course, I'm planning on doing one of his kettlebell workouts tonight. I really do like his workout style, and it's a refreshing change from Jillian and the 30DS or one of her other ones I have access to.

On top of heading in the more toned and fit direction, my boss came by to see me and asked if I would be able to work overtime. Of course, having been on the job for less than a year, I immediately said yes. A) We're closing on our house on Thursday, so extra money is very helpful, and B) I want to be sure I'm helpful.

Working overtime puts me sitting for even more time every week. Yay. that makes getting my steps in that much more difficult, but I'll manage. We don't have kids, so working extra hours doesn't take too much time away from family time (since it's just us), but it does mean that I have to be smart about my time off.

Once we get into the house, I'll be doing more stairs (as the bedroom is upstairs), and I'll be walking more since it takes more than 15 steps to go from one side of the house to the other. We'll also be in a neighborhood that allows walking (sidewalks!), so I'll be out walking when I can brave the temperature. As well as 30DS.

    Congrats on the new house! As for the working out, it is difficult to get a work out fit in with crazy work schedules. Are you allowed any breaks during the work day? You may use that as an opportunity to get in some fitness--if it's a desk job, go walk around, or do some wall push ups. emoticon

    Rebecca, the good news is that 80% of what controls your weight loss is your diet ... not your workouts. So emoticon and emoticon will keep you on track !!
