I've got to track!

I am so bad about tracking my food! I plan my breakfast, lunches and some of my dinners for the week every Sunday, but then there's the unplanned stuff -- the Friday night dinner with my husband, the takeout on Saturday, random snacks I grab while I'm walking around the mall, etc... Once I eat something "unplanned" I end up eating poorly the rest of the day because I think, "The plan is out the window." Bad way of thinking.
Some things are going really well for me. I'm getting lots of movement in (even though I don't always track that, either). Sometimes it feels weird tracking my fitness because it's such a huge part of my life now. Taking the baby outside to explore in the yard ends up being an aerobic exercise because she runs EVERYWHERE and is constantly getting into things. So I end up getting sweaty just chasing her. Add to that cleaning the house and going to work and it feels like a lot of exercise. I am getting over 10,000 steps every day, so that usually includes a least a walk around the neighborhood or some running. I am consistently able to run a whole mile without stopping. Most days I only walk or run about two miles (ONLY, haha, it's crazy that I say ONLY two miles...that used to be a LOT).
Next week's goals:
1) Track all my meals and snacks
2) Drink more WATER ( I am going to use a system where I drop a penny into a container every time I drink a glass so I can keep track of it better)
3) Every day either do the 30 Day Shred DVD, go to Zumba class, or run.
Got some GREAT news today. My husband gets a free gym membership through his work so I get to use it! The only annoyance is that it's about a 30-40 minute drive (which I'm used to driving a lot to get places because I live a small town, but that's a long way to go to work out). I know I'm not going to use it a lot, but I'm hoping to get to Zumba at least once per week. I think some nights I'll go to Zumba and then meet Joe to go run errands while we're in the big city, lol (like do our grocery shopping or go out to dinner). The cool thing about this gym is that they have this little play center right inside the Zumba fitness room so that Tabby (my baby) can play in there with me watching her. I think she'll do better playing in a little pen (perhaps with a playmate) rather than just sitting in the stroller. I hope she does ok during the class! They don't have actual child care until age 4.
I'm feeling really great that I'm finally dropping the pounds and getting back to "normal." I'm finding that I'm happier, not as cranky, and able to tackle the madness that is my life now. I feel much better than I did in the fall. I can easily fit into most of my pre-pregnancy clothes-except for two pairs of jeans -and I will conquer them soon! I think the issues with fit with those jeans are due to my hips widening during pregnancy (unavoidable!)
I am reading "The Happiness Project", which is a pretty good read, and is helping me to evaluate my life and how I can try to live in the moment and be grateful for everything that I have. I am obsessed with self-improvement books (as I am always trying to improve myself, as you can tell). If anyone has any good ones they've read lately, I would totally read it. My husband thinks I'm crazy constantly reading self-help books about life, happiness, marriage... but I think it's better to improve it while it's still working than fix it when it's broken.
