Honoring Our Men and Women

Monday, May 26, 2014

Last year we spent Memorial Day with friends and had a barbeque. Afterwards we went to a nearby military cemetery and looked at the headstone markers. We prayed for them and their surviving loved ones. They also had a monument and a wall with names of those who were lost. Although I don't remember what war. It was very touching. It brings your pride in your country out.

This year I am unable to go anywhere so I'm choosing to turn on the Military channel on the TV and watch. It's amazing what our soldiers and their families go through just to keep us free. I also have my father-in-laws and my late husbands American flags from their funerals in cases. They are on separate shelves in the living room so we see them everyday and are reminded of their service. I'm not sure about my father-in-law, but my husband didn't serve in any wars. He was on alert for the Gulf War and when he was in his hospital bed dying of cancer we got a letter in the mail activating him for Iraq (I guess someone didn't get the memo). They were both awesome soldiers and served many years. I'm very proud of them both.

We need to continue to pray for our Country and it's leaders each day. I'm sure their job is very difficult. Have a great Memorial Day!!
