Once upon a time

Friday, July 04, 2014

There was this girl who never had to be selective of the foods she ate and didn't have to think about exercise to remain a consistent 124. Everything was different back then growing up in a small town of less than 1000. You didn't have chips, pop, or sweets in any cupboards in the house. Her Grandpa would spend individual time with her and her siblings (she came from a family of ten) and take them to the local cafe to have a cherry coke. She would play all day with friends and not go home until supper time. Her activities were bike riding, spending afternoons at the local pool being one block away, recreation in local park on Saturday morning. There was a ground level trampoline that everyone enjoyed when it was their turn for 5 minutes. We walked everywhere if you weren't riding you bike. So this girl needs to remember her once upon a time.....

Exercise was fun and was a part of her everyday life.
The extra sweets and treats were just that - only on occasion.
Life was much simpler then and the biggest decision was probably deciding on what game to play with a group of friends.
There weren't any cell phones or computers - just a simpler way of life.

Hmmm maybe this girl should think about all this everyday!
