NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC VIDEO- TABOO-ALLERGIC TO EVERYTHING

Monday, July 07, 2014

I finally found a version of the video I made last January 2013 with National Geographic.
Origionally to be titled LIVING WITH MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY, the name was changed to ALLERGIC TO EVERYTHING.

My video segment had gotten buried inside another episode called BODY SHOCK, and I had missed seeing it when it origionally aired last July. So I also missed recording it, and sharing it with you all who have followed my journey with this for so many years.
Long story.... it had to do with me not signing a creative editing clause they included in my contracts. They tried 3 times to get me to sign this special editing clause, but each time I crossed it out and refused to give them permission to lie, so they reduced my episode from it's original plan to make it a stand alone 1 hour show, to a 15 minute segment inside another episode called Body Shock.
I could not give National Geographic free license to edit my words or content to make the show more exciting or to mislead anyone. I felt the truth of my words should remain unedited, unfortunately National Geographic did not agree, so they cut my segment to 1/3 of it's original size.

This version I am sharing today is in a foreign language, but does contain subtitles so you can sort of follow along. I think it's been translated to Indian.
When I come across an English Version, I will definitely share.
For now, this is all I've got. LOL.

It looks to me like National Geographic took the Low Road, the position of mainsteam medicine MYRNA. It looks to me they are saying it's all in our head, is psychological in nature..............This is why it is so hard to get any medical care for it. Mainstream medicine does not understand why we are sick, so therefore we must be making it up! And it does not exist in their world.
That is unfortunate, for millions of us sick with this. Millions cannot imagine that they are chemically sensitive. They said the same thing about Fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue syndrome 10-20 years ago too. Now look, it's been proven to be real and millions are sick with that....with little hope for recovery for there is little medical care. The Doctor's are still arguing over what to call it, instead of working on a cure.
    Is amazing.
Same thing will happen with this too. But National Geographic does not get to perpetuate the lie that this is an imaginary illness...........NO WAY!

Second, we have no warning when we come in contact with something our bodies have become sensitive to, the reaction happens automatically sometimes before we see the dangerous chemical we should be avoiding-and the reactions are fired from the autonomic nervous system, not the brain.
I can't tell for certain that is what National Geographic is saying, because as you pointed out, it's in HINDI, ha ha ha.
I've got my friends in my MCS support groups at the ready to make sure National Geographic changes their reporting from fiction to facts! I have a letter writing campaigne in the works, but am holding off writing letters until I can see this stinky thing in English LOL.
It sure looks like they have slanted what I had to say to not reflect the millions I was representing-I made sure in the months before they started filming as I was getting my presentation ready to speak to as many in my MCS support groups and see all our commonalities, and promised each I would not leave them out, that I'd include as many stories as I could. I very much was not representing myself as an I during taping. I spoke of the many afflicted often during the taping. I don't see a lot of that tape in the film, just what applies to only ME, like I'm the only one in the world who has this.
I believe this is why they kept sending me that clause in the contracts to sign three times. I am one who reads every word of a contract before I sign it, and if I don't like what it says, I'm perfectly comfortable crossing it out and rewriting what I do agree to.
And in this instance I would write in: "I do not give National Geographic permission to edit anything I said to reflect what I did not say. I do not give National Geographic permission to lie."

Now aren't you glad you asked ha ha ha

It was strange watching it in Hindi, but once I got over that I think they did a good job of filming the programme. What did you yourself feel about the segment that was left after cutting?
