Back to Working Hard

My goal for this summer was to maintain, and I completely, terribly failed. Actually, I began failing before summer. It started in May, then end of the school year. My healthy habits completely fell apart. Over the course of May, June, and July, I gained about 30 pounds and countless inches. When I was in the states this summer, I bought new clothes to fit my new body shape, and by the time I came back to Venezuela, those clothes did not fit like they were supposed to. :(

When I came back in August, I weighed 210 and figured that some of that weight would come off without much trying like last year. Wrong. A little did, I guess. I was able to get to 203 without much work (mainly travel weight), but not any further. So what did I do? Decide it's back to working hard.

Last year, I posted two blogs about the seasons of my life and how they affect what my body does. There are times were I need to make sure to put hard work in to maintain or lose. There have been times when it has come easily. Last year (when combined with culture shock and a huge lifestyle change that came with it), I didn't have to work too hard to lose weight and inches. I did work hard to continue some healthy habits, but that was it. This year, that isn't the case. It's time to get back to working hard.

This week, I worked to reestablish my healthy habits. I tracked my food two days. I made a schedule for exercising and followed it, even going for an extra, long walk with my friend. I made a better schedule for when I needed to wake up to take my medicine. Now I am spending more time learning about God during the extra time that I am awake before I can eat breakfast (I need to wait an hour for my medicine to work, and I can tell that I haven't been waiting by how extra tired I have become). I took time for myself to read and relax after I worked out at night. I started listing 3 good things about my day before I went to bed. These healthy habits are so necessary. I have felt so refreshed with them in place. It's hard work to follow all of them, but when I do, I can feel the difference.

Guess what? Today when I tracked, these healthy habits (mainly exercise on some of the days) made a big difference. I'm back to ONEderland! My inches already started changing! Hopefully more of my clothes will fit soon! My healthy habits are changing my life and making me feel better and energized. It's hard work, but so worth it.
