4 Months of Baby

Friday, October 03, 2014

Olive had her 4 month check-up a few days ago. Our little baby is not so little anymore!

Weight- 16 lbs (83%)
Height- 26.5 inches (99%)

We were also given the okay to start solids. Olive is great at sitting up with support and has good head control, plus she has always shown an interest in our food/eating. In the past week we have noticed that she mimics chewing with her mouth when she sees us eating.

We tried rice cereal for the first time on Wednesday night and she loved it! We made it using breast milk and it was a bit runny, but she got the hang of opening her mouth and swallowing the food pretty quickly. Last night was even better, and I'm sure it will continue to improve.

We also stepped up our baby-wearing game and got a Moby. We had bought a baby carrier when she was first born and I realized pretty quickly that it was a crotch-dangler. No bueno. I returned that yesterday for the Moby and love it. She fell asleep in it, which she never did with the old carrier, plus I felt like she was so much more supported. I had read reviews of how great the Moby was, but also how difficult it was to put on. I watched the video and followed the directions and had no problems. Highly recommended!

I go back to school in 12 days. I cannot even express in words how much I don't want to go back. I spent my entire life being driven by education either as a student or as a teacher. Now that I have a view of the world that is possible outside of formatives, testing, new initiatives, and teacher requirements, my priorities have changed significantly.

Please find me a winning lottery ticket so I can stay home. Please.

I have 4 kids, ages 1 through 11. 3 of them were born in the US, when I was a teacher, then self employed = no time "off" after birth.
Our littlest one was born in Germany, she is 18 months, and I have been home with her since day one. My husband is a teacher too, so it's not like we are Rockefellers :)
Ever thought of teaching abroad? There are tons of opportunities, and every country has something to offer.

little ones are amazing and they do learn really fast. My kids grew up way too quick for me. My baby(shh he's 7 and doesn't like me calling him my baby) lost his first baby tooth last week and has another loose tooth already.
Kids do change your world. Hope you find that winning lotto ticket :)
