Weight loss challenge

There is a weight loss challenge going on at my work that I joined. We weigh in every Monday. The first weigh-in I was 222, the second I was at 217, and the third weigh-in is tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'll have about a 2-3 lb loss, so that's good. This competition is definitely keeping me motivated. This challenge lasts 12 weeks, which is great for motivation to stay away from sweets at this time of year. And I sure could use some extra money around the holidays! It'd be great to have that for shopping!

Last Sunday I sprained my foot chasing my toddler across my driveway. It still hurts, but I'm not using a crutch anymore. I actually used a cane for a few days last week. I was just trying to keep my weight off that foot. Right now I still have a bit of a limp, but it's not that bad. i can't wear most of my shoes, though. The only ones that feel comfortable are my sandals. I'm lucky I live in SC and it's still warm enough to get away with that.

I am glad for the cooler October weather, though. I love fall. I HATE summers in SC. I do not want to go outside at all, so I usually gain over the summer. Right now I'm sad that my foot is messed up, because I'm dying to get back to running. There is nothing better than lacing up my shoes on a Saturday morning and going to the park to run in the crisp cool morning, with the pretty red and orange leaves of the trees to watch.

Speaking of fall activities, I got my Halloween costume today. Well, part of it. I got a HUGE pair of butterfly wings at a Halloween shop. And a makeup kit to go with it. The kit has a stencil to draw designs on your face. My little girl (she's 19 months) is going to be a tiger. We have been practicing our roaring, which has been hilarious. Seeing her raise her little face and go "RAHHHHH!" makes me laugh so much! I'm enjoying her at this age. We read books every night and it's very cool to hear her learn new words and start to identify animals and things in books. And in other news, I got her a potty seat this weekend. It's time for that to begin, too. It's very cool to get to experience this motherhood thing. I never thought that would ever happen for me.

    Take care of that foot! I sprained mine in January and then just broke my tie last month. emoticon It's miserable but being able to get moving again, but it's better to let it heal right. Right now I'm focusing more on strength training and walking, until I'm ready to start jogging again. You could also do some shadow boxing for a cardio workout that doesn't have to involve moving your feet. Hope you feel better soon!
