Since I last blogged ...
In followup to my last blog, the insurance company decided to fix the car. It took them a week to decide because the repairs were within $500 of the value of the car. It looks really good now. The whole front was replaced, from the back doors forward. It had been starting to show a bit of rust but that's all gone now
At the end of October I went to the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, OH. I had a wonderful time - the horses were amazing, the people friendly and the vendors - well, let's just say I could have spent way, way too much money there.
For the last couple weeks I've been attending an Equine First Aid course. That's over now and I'm feeling a lot more confident around my ability to respond to an emergency should one arise.
I did my first formal work-out this morning since my riding is obviously over for the winter. Up until this year I've tried to convince myself that I'd ride all year round. I bought some very expensive, warm winter riding gear but I still didn't do it. I discovered that he riding isn't the issue - it's the tacking up. When it's -20 outside, the tack is also -20 and frozen leather is really hard to work with, my hands freeze and I'm just plain miserable ... so I don't. I'll see Red every day mother nature allows and we can do some ground work.
I have a really hard time getting back on track with the work-outs once riding ends. It's so easy to sit back and find excuses and I'm very creative when it comes to excuses
Once I get back in the habit I'm fine, it's the transition I find difficult.
