After my new job took off like a rocket at the end of September, I had to withdraw from Camp Wannabefit. But now, I'm on a 3 month holiday from work (and a 3 month holiday from earning money). Ack! I'll be heading back to work and Japan in April.
From now until April, I have a few things I'd like to work on.
1. Drink more water.
The last time I was in the US, I spent about half my time in the country sick. What made it worse was that I didn't drink enough water and developed some complications. It was miserable. I may not be able to prevent getting sick, but I can prevent dehydration. My main goal is to drink a mug of water before I drink my first cup of coffee. I'm starting with a small goal!
When it's easy to drink the mug of water before coffee, I'll add more water. I really just want to focus on building non-painful habits.
2. Get ripped.
OK, maybe ripped is the wrong word! I love exercise, but it mostly fell by the wayside during the term. I did a lot of walking in heels, but that was mostly it. I want to re-establish a cardio and strength training plan.
My dream is to run again someday. I've been fighting a nasty case of Achilles tendinitis for the past 18 months. My doc said it would probably take 2-3 years to recover (yikes). Recently, I had a few weeks without pain, which gave me some hope for the future. When I do recover from the Achilles tendinitis, I want my body to be ready to run again (and not quite so nice and soft). So, I'm going to work on some strength training for runners to get my supporting muscles back in good shape. running.competitor.com/2
For my cardio now, I'm mostly going to bike and walk around the neighborhood (and resist the urge to be jealous of the runners).
3. Practice Japanese
OK, it's not really a health or fitness goal, but it must be done! It would be too easy for my language skills to rot while I'm in Mississippi (not a hotbed of Japanese).
So, these are my goals at the moment. Pretty sweet and simple!
