Here I go again . . .

The new year has begun. HOORAY!

I've done the new year resolutions that have been thrown to the wayside by March. And here we are again, at the beginning of another new year. Do I set MORE new year resolutions?

No. And yes.

The beginning of a new year is a great time to start fresh - when you close the books on 2014 and look ahead to 2015. What better time to evaluate your goals? As long as the ONLY reason for the resolutions - the goals - isn't just because the date changed on the calendar, then I believe it's worth the time to set some resolutions down on paper.

My Resolutions? Well, their the continuation of goals that I set in 2014. The difference this year? I read a quote from Ziglar saying "Of course motivation is not permanent. But then neither is bathing; but it is something you should do on a regular basis". I think that is a huge part of what I've been missing. You don't find the motivation once and expect that to carry you though a goal that takes a year or more to accomplish. Motivation IS renewable though. Which is why part of my resolution was to put up reminders of WHY I'm doing what I'm doing. My bedroom door and my refrigerator both look like they were decorated by a teenager, but it works. Reminders to get up and move regardless of how I feel, and fun sayings such as "Tips to lose weight: 1. Turn head to the left 2. Turn head to the right 3. Repeat anytime food is offered" and Images that remind me of WHY it's worth the work. I want to go kayaking with my kids. There's a great amusement park we love a few hours away that we used to spend several weekends at over the summer, this past year I avoided going because I was afraid of fitting in some of the rides! Never want to feel like that again and I want to be a fun mom again sometimes. And that I want to go running with my dog. Simple things that mean a lot to me and my life. That's one of the differences this year.

May your new year be blessed and full of good things!
