Starting Anew....For Real This Time

After giving birth in May 2014 I've been very motivated to get back in shape and lose the baby weight. Since I was breastfeeding for the first six months that proved to be very challenging for me. Now, almost 9 months later, I'm ready and raring to go.
My little girl's mobility is increasing which means her momma's energy needs to increase as well in order to keep up with her. Time for all this excess weight to be gone. Also, I've been very lazy with my diet and my blood sugar has become a factor again. I want to jump start my diet to help keep me motivated while controlling my blood sugar and increasing my energy.
For those reasons I am falling back to what I know best, low carb. I've done Atkins in the past and had success in both losing weight and maintaining normal glucose levels without medication. I know there are people out there who think low carb is just a fad. I would challenge those people to read up on the science behind it. This time around though I won't be doing Atkins instead I'll be giving Keto a try. While similar the approach is a little more technical. In other words there is math involved and I love math lol.
I've been following it rather casually for about a week now and have already seen a vast improvement in my glucose levels. I'm back into normal range without any huge spikes. My energy is already improving. I haven't seen the number on the scale decrease yet but it hasn't increased either. Usually I fluctuate a few pounds each day and I've held steady at the same number for nearly a week. I have noticed physical changes. My face and stomach are less bloated and I don't get indigestion at all.
I've had some temptation but not much so far. Pizza night was tough on me and I did give in and have a slice but overall I've behave myself. I feel so satisfied after my meals that I really haven't had cravings. I dread something called keto flu that can occur during the first three weeks. It's caused by your body adjusting to ketosis which causes a drop in electrolytes. It can be managed by drinking broth several times throughout the day.
I'm feeling very good about the direction I'm moving in. To make my life easier I will be preparing all my meals for the week on Sunday. I'll be eating the same thing everyday. As a foodie, I'm not sure how well this will work for me since I love variety but I also need to cook a regular meal for my family every night so I'm trying to find the easy road for me.
We'll see how it goes. I'm feeling positive and motivated and I have the support of my family.
