can i lose 5 pounds today?

tomorrow is my first weigh in for my own personal diet bet. if i make my first goal i add $25 to my pot. on friday i was trending perfectly to hit this mark. then the weekend happened. i had my parents over for their birthday dinner of corned beef and cabbage. and beer. heh. i tracked everything, it wasn't a big deal. it wasn't a last minute thing that sent me over the edge. then sunday came. i just wanted junk food. so i had junk food. then yesterday happened and i stress ate all freaking day! those two days weren't planned or tracked, they just happened. but i refuse to let them ruin my week! i'm getting better with that issue.

friday i was 2 lbs from my goal weight, today i'm 5. i'm at a cross roads here.

first, the old me (by old, i mean 3 weeks ago) would have said "eff it, i'm not going to hit my goal. bring on the chips". the new me doesn't want to mess up the 7 lbs i've lost in the last 3 weeks.

second, i've lost 4 lbs overnight before. i've done it before, i can do it again.

third, i've tracked all my food for today. if i stick with my pre-planned menu i can be successful and drop overnight. i may not see 5 lbs, but i'll see something.

fourth (cause my crossroads needs a fourth), i will be screwed if someone brings in holiday treats! i just want to eat and eat! remnants from the 3-day bender.

this is such a turning point for me. i've never reached one goal that i've given myself to be a certain weight by a certain date. it sets me up for failure and sabotage every single time. and even if i don't make tomorrow's goal, i'll feel good knowing i tried. i'll have accomplished something, which i've never done before.

this could be easier if i was able to workout, but something is wrong with my knee so i'm taking it easy for a couple days. i have an appt tomorrow and am hoping they have some info on what i can do to help it heal completely. i seem to have prepatellar bursitis. which is bursitis of the kneecap. basically, i kneel too much. haha. i diagnosed myself with that, so i could be completely wrong.

One of the first things my old WW leader told us was NOT to set a weight by a certain date. Two people can practice identical programs and lose different amounts of weight. We are all different. She told us to do our jobs: follow the Program One Day At A Time, and the weight will come off in God's good time. You won't know when or how much, but you do know it will happen One Day At A Time.

Even if you don't lose the 5 in one day, like you said, you still have the weight you have lost. I have decided not to say I am going to lose a certain amount by a certain time. I am going to take care of myself, track my food, and try to move more and celebrate the pounds slipping away. Maybe instead of setting a certain loss by a particular time, you can give yourself the reward whenever you reach that weight.

Agree with honeybees and darkkara... it is likely very much sodium. Drink a lot of water, and get that out of there! You might not be down, but maybe you are stil within 2!!!

I'm up TEN POUNDS from the sodium in the corned beef. I know I didn't over eat 35,000 calories. Drink lots of water today and eat normally and you might just see that loss!

Ya you could be holding onto water weight from the junk foods so hopefully it will leave for you.
emoticon for the 7 you got rid of and that you didn't quit just because of some bumps in the road!
emoticon emoticon Stay Strong! I'm rooting for you!

I know I could never lose that much weight in a day. But - holy crap - 7 lbs in 3 weeks?!?!? That's great!!! Celebrate that (not with a cookie), and don't let a bet distract you from the long term goal. Stay the course, and it will get you where you need to be.
