Great Weekend, now I'm ready for a great new week!

One of the goals that I put on my personalized goal board was to make a point of getting out of town for hikes. I am fortunate to live right next to a mountain preserve with great hiking trails just steps away from my front door. While part of me loves familiarity and routine, another part longs for variety and adventure. I made a goal to get out of town more frequently to get the variety that I love. However, life has been getting in the way and that hasn't happened enough. Yesterday when my husband asked if there was anything I wanted to do, I jumped on the option of driving out of town for a hike. I think he was thinking of local events, shopping and things such as that. We quickly gathered our things for a day trip and got into his pickup truck. I love the wonderful names of paces we have out here in the West. We drove up Black Canyon Highway to Bloody Basin. We got off the highway and took about a 45 mile drive through progressively challenging roads that lead through Bumble Bee, Crown King, and up to Horsethief Basin. Through the desert and up into the Bradshaw Mountains. While we were gone we had a lean cut of meet marinating and quickly chopped up veggies for the grill. I felt good about the hike, getting out of town, and having a healthy meal ready. The trip was also good for me because sometimes, especially on weekends, I tend to nibble either out of boredom or because food is just to handy at home.
