Month Two...

Saturday, April 04, 2015

It is the beginning of month two and I am continuing my mindset to 'cut the carbs'. It has been easier than I thought compared to last year at this time when I tried the same thing. Only went a month and then back to the bad eating habits again. But, this year I seem to be stronger - mainly because of a high A1C reading with the Diabetics. The A1C rates your sugar level over a 3 month period - and it is suppose to read 6.5 or less - mine was 9.2 going up from a 7.2. Well to say the least I was surprised, but then when I looked in my cupboards there was the horrible story as to what I had been gradually doing. Lots of CARBS - cereal, pasta, canned soups, muffins, crackers and so on. Determined, I loaded all up and took to my friend's house (let her get fat LOL - not really her grandchildren will eat the foods). So back on being on track again. I am much more level with my moods and in general feel better. My body is the type that if I eat the wrong type of Carbs, my sugar levels soar. What a bummer. If I do eat something that I shouldn't I walk afterwards - like going shopping - eat first, shop second!!! This really helps a lot to lower the sugar in my body. So, onward we go and it is all for the good. I have to remember 'eat in moderation' like a bite of chocolate, not a whole box of Russell Stovers...

and, so it goes on my side of town

Hi Lee - I think that if people are able they are changing their eating habits - but, most people work and maintain a family and just don't have the time. Thanks for the comment - you are doing so good also! Bread??? I haven't ate it for 7 weeks now. Boy do I miss it...LOL

Good for you. You've done the hardest things necessary to keep your glucose in check.
I have switched back to making everything from scratch, breads, fruit spreads, juice, etc. I lived this lifestyle for 20-30 years, but since my husband passed, I cheated and bought foods prepared. That's the worst thing for our health. Back to the beginning.

    Good for you! emoticon

Only lost 6 lbs Morticia, but my sugar levels are still very good in the AM. This morning again only 100 compared to 170+ a month ago. And, the readings as I told you came down immediately. I have noticed that reducing the carbs, I don't have hunger like before or cravings. Wow!...

My body is like yours and I have to limit my carbs. When I chose to eat them I need to concentrate on low glycemic veggies/fruits, seeds, nuts. It sounds like you are doing well.
