But Its Not A DIET

Sunday, June 21, 2015

Yearly doctor appointment were always stressful because of my weight. Joining Spark People has made it easier until last week. I was in shock and it took me 3 days to figure out what the doctor had said.
She said 4 years ago you weighed 185 lbs., The last 3 times you maintained 164,161, 164. Today you weigh 145. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DIET ANY MORE. I told her but IT ISN'T A DIET. It is HEALTHY EATING AND EXERCISE, and I still have to tone so I will loose a little more. She asked my height 5 feet 1and 1/2 inches. Is there a reason? She changed the subject.
I felt great when I left home that morning I joined BLC27 and lost 12 pounds, and I am doing BLC28. The weight is moving slower, but I knew that might happen.
I wasn't looking for praise. I am on this journey for me, but I would still like to know why she didn't answer my question.

Congratulations on your weight loss! The doctor asked your height, because that's how they figure out what the ideal weight is for a person. I think that she changed the subject, because she realized that she may have made a mistake about what weight you should be. For your height, your ideal weight range is somewhat lower than where you were when you had this appointment.

Here is a link to a BMI calculator, that helps figure where you are, what weight range you are in:

    https://www.cdc.gov/heal
    thyweight/assessing/bmi/adult_b
    mi/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_c
    alculator.html

And here is some more information on this:

    https://www.cdc.gov/he
    althyweight/assessing/bmi/adult
    _bmi/index.html

Next time that you go into an appointment, you can share what BMI you are!

Congrats on your weight loss and know you are worth an answer to your question. Is there a system in place where you can email your doctor your question? I know a lot of doctors have gone that way now. So happy for you and all you've accomplished!

Doctors are not used to people changing their lives around! It makes them feel uncomfortable!

You keep going till you feel 'right'!

    Well done girl!!!!

Sandy your weight loss is fantastic. Way to go.

I hate it when doctors don't answer the question.
I prefer I don't know to no answer at all.

She was doctoring by number. At that height and weight, figuring out BMI and your optimum weight range.
