Ketogenesis and the Mysteries of Attraction

No, they don't have anything to do with each other! I recently found a group on Facebook called Banting. I was curious because I knew that a Dr. Banting was the founder of low-carb eating. It was the only way he managed to lose weight, mostly by eliminating sugar and other high-carb items, mostly starchy things. So I joined the group, which happens to be based in South Africa. This provides a little confusion, not only with metric measurements but with some of the products they have available there. But there basic ideas rang true to me, since nothing I've tried recently has worked. I'm eating pretty drastically low carb, but with an emphasis on healthy real food including lots of green veggies. My problem is that my birthday is less than 2 weeks away and I plan to have some great dinners at at least 3 places.
Which brings me to the other subject: Daniel, whom I did the 2 long cruises with recently, will be here for 3 weeks starting next Wednesday. Neither of us expected this to happen, but we've become really attracted to each other. Thing is, I look at him objectively and I don't see where this comes from. I think if we were walking down a street neither one of us would even notice the other. But we got to know each other and it looks like we'll try to see where this goes. He's in FL and I'm in NC, but it's not really that long a trip. I hope it goes well when he's here, as he had some issues with anger before we parted. I think it will be a lot less stressful since we don't have the exhaustion of a long cruise and very long flight complicated by lots of jet lag. And he's acknowledged that he has a lot to work on. As I'm sure do I. We are old and hopefully somewhat mature and obviously enjoy some of the same things, so I'm at least cautiously optimistic. Plus, he's very handy and I will be putting him to work on several things in my townhouse!
