Self-Love

Saturday, July 04, 2015

The topic of self-love recently came up; and to be honest -- I don't know how to address it -- as it relates to "ME." I've always heard: "If you don't love yourself first; no one else will. How you treat yourself -- is how others will treat you." Well, ... This seems like a very harsh reality, if we don't treat ourselves well? ... Hmm.

I like how the concept and (the) idea was posed to me; so with that in mind - I will attempt to "self-love" in a positive and "changed" way.

For starters, the beauty that I see in others -- I will see in myself. The kindness and consideration that I extend to others -- I will extend to myself. The positive light & energy that I wish for others -- I will pray for myself as well.

Old "negative" self-talk, will be replaced with "new, positive self-talk."

I may be overweight now (old self talk), -- but in due time with proper diet and exercise; I can become fit and physically better (new self talk).

As I write these words, the concept of self-love is becoming much clearer.
It involves patience, nurturing, and accepting myself as I am, and who I want to become.

I am kind, loving & sensitive. Compassionate & born-again. We are all "God's Masterpiece."

Simply put (by Team Leader & Spark Member, "FINDYOURFIT") .... "Self-love is positive self-regard --IN ACTION!" : )

Peace and Blessings! ...

You are on the right path to changing your mindset. We all have to remember this because there are days when we just forget, or don't feel good about ourselves. Thanks for the reminder for me today.

I really liked your honest and inspiring blog, especially "For starters, the beauty that I see in others -- I will see in myself. The kindness and consideration that I extend to others -- I will extend to myself. The positive light & energy that I wish for others -- I will pray for myself as well." It brought tears to my eyes. It is so easy for me to care for and be compassionate with others and so hard to do with myself. Thank you for starting my morning with this wonderful blog!

emoticon Simply beautiful. Your blog is very uplifting and honest. It's ironic how others see us and how we see ourselves. I like how in your post you stated you will replace certain negative thoughts with positive ones. When I first got started on this journey I had to accept so many things and think positive. I think you are doing wonderful because your mind and heart is in the right place : ) Even if you fall it's okay as long as you get back up! You got this lady one day at a time : ) emoticon emoticon emoticon

Self love to me means self respect. I respect myself and there for I expect others to respect me also.

We are kind to others- Why not be kind to ourselves. You can substitute any word in this sentence caring, generous ,loving, etc.
Putting yourself first is not selfish or self centered, it means taking care of yourself.

self love is self acceptance...before you can give to others you have to be able to give & ACCEPT yourself as you are. If you want to improve any area of your life it needs to be for you 1st. That's a hard lesson to learn, & I work on it every day.

The 1st step is when you look in the mirror, SMILE! emoticon

Treat yourself as you would a best friend. Only speak words to yourself that you would say to a friend. You are emoticon just the way you are. Self improvement is for YOU and no one else! Hugs!

I have confused self-love with selfishness. I have since learned that self-love is the catalyst to truly loving other people. The more I love myself with eating healthy, exercising, and spiritual enrichment the more I have to give to other people.

I used to have trouble with the idea of self love. To me it sounded like being self centered, but if you think about it if we don't love ourselves we won't take care of ourselves. Who wants to run around dirty, unhealthy from eating all the wrong stuff and miserable. Not me! I guess it's not being self centered just a necessity. I think with me it was a self esteem thing. Now I just say "I'm a nice person" and try to take care of myself. You are a nice person too!! It's okay to love yourself ; )
