Defying Obstacles

Monday, July 06, 2015

I was watching a TV show today, that exemplified the physical fitness of its contestants, and I admired their drive and physical prowess. One contestant in particular, stood out to me. His name is Artis Thompson III. He is a personal trainer, great semi-pro athlete playing football and boxing; a father of 3- and an amputee. His ability is no different than any other able-bodied individual with no injuries. And he is a WARRIOR! ... He made the statement: "If you want to achieve something; be dedicated in seeing it through."

I watched his performance, and thought ... "How could I not be inspired? Why should I not get up, and tackle my challenges with gusto and faith?" If he can defy the odds physically -- why can't I?

In my mind, the journey of weight-loss is just that ... a challenge of beating the odds, and defying an obstacle. It's a mental game. It's "MIND OVER MATTER," as they say.

It's me pushing myself past my complacency and discomfort, when I feel that I can't go through the process of winning at the "weight game."

It's me saying: "YES I CAN," -- and "YES I WILL" -- when my subconscious mind tells me otherwise. It's that's voice that says: "Do the healthier thing" -- when my mind, body and will have become comfortable with "eating lousy food" and bad habits.

In essence, the journey of "creating a healthier state of life" --lies within me mastering my mental state; and rising to the occasion. It is doing what I think I cannot; while proving to myself --THAT I CAN (CONSISTENTLY emoticon) !!! KEEP SPARKIN' EVERYONE !!! emoticon ....
