A "FLIP-FLOP" WEEK

Monday, August 17, 2015

THIS PAST WEEK WAS ONE OF UPS AND DOWNS.

I STARTED THE WEEK OFF WITH HIGH MOTIVATION, EXCELLENT EATING HABITS, DAILY EXERCISE, AND A POSITIVE OUTLOOK! SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY CAME AND WENT QUICKLY, AND EACH DAY I MET MY STEP GOAL, ATE HEALTHY, AND REMAINED POSITIVE.

ON THURSDAY, I GAVE INTO A STRONG TEMPTATION TO EAT CJ'S, WHICH I HADN'T HAD IN OVER TWO WEEKS. OF COURSE, AFTER THAT CAME GUILT, SHAME, AND FRUSTRATION. I TOLD MY HUSBAND WHAT I HAD DONE, AND HE TOLD ME TO MARK DOWN THAT DAY ON A CALENDAR I WOULD SEE OFTEN TO REMIND ME OF WHEN I MADE THAT POOR CHOICE. HE SAID IT WILL HELP MOTIVATE ME AND GIVE ME A VISUAL TO START MY *NEW* TREND OF NOT EATING FAST FOOD. THEN HE TOLD ME TO TELL EVERYONE ON SPARK WHAT I DID (BECAUSE HE KNOWS THE ACCOUNTABILITY AND ENCOURAGEMENT HERE IS PHENOMENAL). I ENDED UP DOING EVERYTHING HE TOLD ME TO, BUT THE SLUMP REMAINED THROUGH FRIDAY.

I PICKED UP MOMENTUM AGAIN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, MAKING IT A GOAL TO EAT HEALTHY, ASK MY HUSBAND FOR ACCOUNTABILITY WITH CALORIES (HE HAS WEEKENDS OFF), AND EXERCISE EACH DAY. THAT BRINGS ME TO YESTERDAY (SUNDAY).

YESTERDAY MARKED THE FIRST DAY IN *YEARS*, AND I MEAN *YEARS*, THAT I WENT ON AN INTERMEDIATE HIKE. I CANNOT REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I HIKED PERIOD, BUT 4 MILES OF UPS AND DOWNS AND UNEVEN GROUND??? OH MY GOODNESS!!! I WAS STRUGGLING TO KEEP MY BODY TEMPERATURE IN A STATE THAT DIDN'T MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT! HOWEVER, I MADE IT TO THE BEAUTIFUL BLUE POOL (2 MILES) AND THEN MADE IT BACK AGAIN (ANOTHER 2 MILES).

I FELT SO ACCOMPLISHED AND VERY PROUD! I TACKED ON 11,000 STEPS THAT DAY AND ADDED FOUR MORE MILES TO MY AUGUST CHALLENGE OF WALKING 50 MILES! I AM NOW AT 31/50!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT! I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED EACH WEEK WITH THE HIGHLIGHTS AND STRUGGLES I AM FACING AS I GO THROUGH THIS WEIGHT-LOSS JOURNEY!

SENDING YOU ALL MY LOVE AND SUPPORT!
