Update On Weights While Walking - From Ridiculous to Realistic

I recently blogged about wearing 5 lbs of arm weights when I walk. (2.5 on each wrist) Swell. Then I added a 6 lb weighted belt and wrote about that. It was challenging, for sure, to have 11 lbs to deal with.

But what I didn't write about was that I then added another 5 lbs. of weights to my arms. Yes, a total of 16 lbs. Crazy. Yes. Insane. As I walked, I apologized to my body for ever having had put on that many extra lbs, and thanked it for being patient while I lose another 16. I struggled with the weights all the way home. It was the time of day when it had been cool, but the cloud covering burned away and the second half of the walk was HOT.

When I got home, I realized that I am being foolish by adding that much weight. I've come to a realistic conclusion of just sticking to my 5 lb arm weights and that's it. Nothing extra.
It really helps me work my arms while I walk.

    I SWEAT to think of the 2.5 on each wrist as well as as 6 lb. weighted vest...Did you not feel glued to cement with each step you took? If you find it works for you without the joint & back involvement than try it. Personally, I tend to keep cardio & strengthening separate.

    I don't know how you do it, GF. I'm strained enough just dragging around my hefty carcass without added weights. LOL. I'm glad you cut back.

    Arm weight is the hardest to get off right? Im still trying to loose mineā€¦I do triceps kickbacks and kickboxing which has a lot of punching. using weights while doing cardio - what a good idea, I think Ill try that too.

    I read once that leg weights when you're walking don't help you much, so I stopped wearing them and only use them for calesthenics. Hand weights are only useful if you move your arms in curls while walking, I think. All that extra weight just puts more stress on your joints. I feel like that's what we're trying to get away from, right?

    Sounds like a good plan. Sometimes weights like that put you out of balance and hur sometimes weights like that put you out of balance and hurt areas of your body. Especially your back
