New Year, New Ways

Doing the same thing and expecting a different result, insanity right? Here's to a new year with new plans. I've never been much of one for new year's resolutions but am figuring since that hasn't worked before that maybe I should give it a try. So here goes... I am going to take better care of myself. What does this look like? I will eat more fruits and vegetables. I will exercise for at least 30 minutes at least four times a week. I will follow through on needed doctor's appointments and take my medications and vitamins daily. Lastly, I will reconnect with my creative side, allowing myself time to create at least three times a week. I am going to work on being a stronger advocate for my child who is on the autism spectrum. This means keeping a journal of both concerns and accomplishments, encouraging him to push himself out of his comfort zone academically and socially, and watching and recognizing signs that he is ready for more independence. I will improve my marriage by trying to remain therapeutic and non judgemental in communication (it's not fair to do it for my patients but not my husband), encouraging my husband when he is struggling, working on honesty, and working toward loving myself so that I can acknowledge and reciprocate his love for me. Finally, I will work on my relationship with God by attending church at least 3 our of every 4 Sundays, being thankful daily for His blessings in my life, showing kindness to all to the best of my ability, and remembering that my body and my life are a gift from Him that deserve to be treasured and cared for.
