Back One Month

Friday, January 29, 2016

I restarted Sparkpeople on December 27, 2015; so it has been a month back on plan.

I thought it would be hard because for 8 months I just "didn't care." Well, I did care but not enough about myself. I had regained a considerable about of weight but all the problems, sadness, and stress left me unable to cope with "one more thing"...me.

I lumbered through the year getting fatter and less healthy until, in December, my doctor gave me a 'wake up call', I had developed health problems and pre-diabetes. She wanted me to start taking medication, again. Man, I was bummed but I was also determined that I did not want to go down that 'medication' road again. I made a deal with the doctor to lose weight.

I can do it. I lost 83 1bs in 18 months with Spark. Certainly, I could lose 25 lbs. So I came back and I was/am excited. I discovered there was new "stuff," the mobile app and linking to fitness trackers. As well as the old "stuff," food tracking, exercise tracking, and the wonderful supportive people who make up the Spark community. My "Spark" friends.

I made it my long term goal to lose 25 pounds in six months. I am back, one month, and I am down 5 pounds.

It is not as hard as I thought. I just have to remember to help myself first so I can be available to help others. I forgot about that last year; forgot about me last year. I won't again.

I got this.
