Good evening everyone.
My husband and I recently invested some extra money in a mutual fund with Edward Jones. The local agent sponsors free movie days at the second run theater a couple of times each year: free movies, popcorn, soda, etc. So we did that today.

My victory: I opted for the free ice water. NO POPCORN. NO SODA. Partly no popcorn due to wisdom teeth having come out on Wednesday, but also because I knew that just one thing wouldn't "be enough", so it was easier to avoid it altogether. I'm proud of myself for avoiding the soda, because Mt Dew is kind of my kryptonite. Srsly. You can bribe me to do almost anything if you have enough Dew on ya.

I got another commission to write a novella, this time they want 50k instead of 25k words, which is awesome because that = more $. I ghost write these things, and I'm hoping some day to see one of them on a shelf at the book store, even if my name isn't on the byline.

In other news, I decided to start a transformation series of photographs. It sounds way more mystical than it is. I'm going to take photos each month of myself wearing the same outfit, in the same few poses, so I have a visual record of my progress. Since I see me all the time, I often forget to remember that I've made any progress, because from this angle, I always look fat.

Monday I'm calling the employee benefits folks where my husband works to that I can set us up with memberships at the gym they have there. I'm determined to go 5 days every week even if all I do is walk on the treadmill for my prescribed 30 minutes. They have some fitness classes I want to check out which are free with membership, and I can work my way from 30 minutes on the treadmill to a few minutes on the elliptical, etc.

I really need this to work for me. I have to get my BMI from 61 to 55 (approx 335 lbs) so I can be cleared for surgery, I have to show the dietitian that I understand healthy eating habits, AND I have to pass a psych eval showing that I understand my new reality after surgery. So far I cannot honestly say that I would pass if I had to do this today.

I am grateful for the support of my Spark Friends. Maybe even more so than some of my IRL friends, because you have all been or are where I am now and you understand that #thestruggleisreal in ways that people who've never had a weight problem can't possibly imagine.

Like eyeballing an entire room for the sturdiest looking chair that you pray won't creak or break when you sit on it. Eyeballing a restaurant and insisting on a table and not a booth because you can't fit. You all know what I mean.

I heart you all. We can do this. Right?

    I'm intrigued by your ghost writing. How does one break into the biz?

    Good luck with the gym membership. I really hope you like it. I have tried multiple times to do the gym. It's just not for me. When I got serious about losing weight, I started by walking in place in front of my TV to Leslie Sansone walking DVDs. I still do that. Sometimes I walk while watching my TV shows.

    I love the idea of keeping the transformation pics. I have a mess of Day 1 pics, though none of them are in the same pose or same clothes! emoticon
