Maintenance

Saturday, March 05, 2016

Once you reach goal it's a whole new ball game. In my opinion once you reach goal and start the maintenance phase it is more difficult than the whole weight loss journey itself. I know because I have gained weight after I reached my goal but noticed something interesting.
I noticed that some not so happy but familiar feelings cropped up lately:
- back ache
- knee pain
- energy level has diminished
- clothing not comfortable lately
- Not as excited and happy as I was just after reaching goal
So I am using this as a warning sign that I have to stop the bad practices and make this my number 1 priority to get back to goal. I will not do my typical wait until Monday, I am starting right now.
If anyone is having the same problem you need to get in touch with yourself, your body is telling you just how bad you feel with the extra weight your carrying.
Good Luck

Those unwelcome feelings are a great reminder! It's not about weight, it's about health, feeling good and having fun. Finding fun in things OTHER THAN FOOD! I've struggled with maintenance this past year and am back to goal weight again (with a lot of support from my friends here!). My mantra is COMMITMENT - CONSISTENCY - ACCOUNTABILITY . Since I refuse to "diet" --but am committed to making healthy choices--- I do need to move more to maintain. I build as much activity into my days that I love as I can! I also refuse to eat things I don't like but have learned to like a lot of healthier choices than I used to. I am a calorie counter and keep tabs on my fitness minutes; those things work for me. Just thought I'd check in on you and I hope you're still with us. Congratulations on your amazing weight loss; no worries, be healthy!

Son, you are speaking to the choir here! I agree with everything you say, keeping it 100! We've done this before. We can do it again. Keeping track of my mindless eating and moving MORE is key for me. Like, why did I just eat those 10 marshmallows???? Not that many calories but WHY?!?!?! Mindfulness. Keep fighting the good fight! BLOG MORE please!

    Great observations.
The happiness and joy of maintenance comes from not carrying the extra weight, but more than that: it comes directly from eating well, being active and being strong and healthy.

Totally agree. I hit my target 18 months ago. Then a couple of weeks ago,my jean were too tight to wear. Took matter in hand,i now have only 5 pounds to loose and I'll be at target again. I'm so glad i nipped it in the bud. I will track my food reg !
