Dear Body....why?

Thursday, March 10, 2016

So my first weigh in came and went and I think my first week went incredibly well with very few slip ups. So when Sunday came around I was looking forward to getting on the scale and possibly seeing at least a pound gone. Especially since I had been drinking a lot of water and I was using the restroom every few hours. I stepped on the scale and boom! 5 pounds gained. Trying not to get discouraged I decided to just keep on trucking. Then came this outrageous hunger. I just wanted to keep eating...even when I was incredibly uncomfortable. By today I had gained 10 pounds since the 29th of February. Now I will be the first to admit that I haven't been eating all that great since Monday, but I have never experienced weight gain like this before. Not pregnant. I did however, stop taking steroids last week and I have heard that some people have weight gain after stopping them. It as just been crazy and I am trying to get a handle on this. I can see the bloating in my stomach and my face is starting to become rounder. I have surpassed being 250 pounds. Even at my highest I have NEVER broken 250. I am kind of at a loss as to what to do. Tomorrow we have inventory for my job and I am going to try my best to keep to the lunch I pack and avoiding the vending machines again. Especially since they are catering lunch for us. I am trying not to let this get to me but this radical gain has really thrown me for a loop. emoticon

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will have better news.

I hope things get better for you soon. I've heard that about steroids, also.
You're definitely not alone - I was doing well and then kind of "crashed." It happens - I hope we both get back in the groove. Hang in there!!!

With the weight coming on so quickly, I bet those pounds are just visiting. That's how I like to refer to water weight LOL. I can tell by the tone of your blog this is bothersome for you. It would get to anyone trying to get the scale to go in the other direction. Just keep your head up and keep pushing forward.

I figured out that I have to eat a lot of high volume, low calorie foods to control my hunger. Also, food high in protein helps too. And I can't speak highly enough about trying to eat clean, unprocessed foods. It really surprised me when I started eating more fruits and veggies and less starchy carbs how much I can actually have to eat and stay in my calorie range.

It could very well be the steroids, also is it your time of the month? The combo of the 2 can cause a weight gain. Keep up with the water. Don't give up.

For some, keeping busy and hydrated helps - I keep rice cakes nearby in case I feel I need to have something in my tummy (as bland as they are, plain ones for me were the best since there are no triggering "extra flavors")..........

You do have a point about those steroids, though.........

That's so frustrating. It sounds like you're not tracking your food correctly. Maybe try to be more meticulous? Those binges can totally destroy all your hard work. Good luck
