This Time

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

I've been a member here since 2008. Here it is 2016 and I have the very same pounds to lose as I did the very first day I joined. Hmmmmm.

I'm done with so much of the stuff that is supposed to help...things many people swear by...they just don't work for me. Like tracking my food. I get so frustrated trying to do that. I am retired and grow lots of my own food and I cook...every day. I don't always use recipes either and I have no idea how many servings I get from a pot of soup or chili...I just refuse to drive myself crazy with that. And teams...I've tried that too... I just never seem to chose a team that continues to be active and challenging, so one and done for me. Now, don't get me started on the whole goal thing. Sitting down, pen in hand, racking my brain to come up with creative ways to set and achieve a goal...not gonna happen for me.

Nope, I been there, done that, didn't work, beat myself up, quit, started over, quit, started over, on and on and one until now, I'm jumping off that roller coaster and am just going to do it.

I didn't gain the weight in a week or month or even a year, and I no longer expect to lose it in a short period of time. I eat healthy foods and am taking steps to keep myself in somewhat of a state of check, but I refuse to stress over it. I am taking care of me. I love to cook, so I cook. I love to eat, so I eat, I just don't need to eat the whole thing at once. If I feel the urge for a beer after I mow the lawn well golly gee, that's ok too.

Slowly and surely things are happening for me. I am more conscious of what and how much I eat a day, I no longer eat from dinner time to bed time, I am getting more consistent exercise, I don't give a rip what the scales say....This Time...it's on MY terms.

So like anything, you have to adjust to your way of living. This time I am not going to try to fit anyone else's mold. I read, I think, and I do it my way. And FINALLY, it is working. You won't see a tracker on my page either. That's just asking for trouble in my world.

Even in light of all the things I'm NOT doing or am doing MY way, I love SP and enjoy reading of others' success stories. I don't mean to trip anyone up. I am just sure there are others that are doing it their own way and I'd love to hear your stories.

I have been on Spark since 2008 also. This year I am doing something different and it's working for me.

It really helps to be on an active team. In a few weeks I will invite you to join the 5% Summer Challenge. It's great to have members who show up and encourage you. Thanks for the friend add.

At least you don't have MORE to lose.

I do use SP and the tools, but highly recommend just eating very healthy and exercising. It works for me.
