Update on the WLS

Sunday, July 03, 2016

Hi everyone! It's been almost 2 months since I posted here. I've been off and on the radar over the last couple months and haven't been as active on SP.

I was cleared after 3 months of dietary meetings, and met the doctor and surgical nurse on the 23rd of June. Aside from the blood work required by the insurance company, she gave me no further requirements! So I don't have to bust my butt trying to lose another 30 pounds before she can do the procedure.

I am still sticking to my dietary sheet with regards to foods I should avoid, and serving sizes, number of servings, etc. I've lost 10 lbs since May 6 so there's that. All the paperwork was submitted to my insurance company last week and they should have an answer for me by the 11th. They said it takes 7-10 bus. days, and since this is a holiday weekend, I'm giving them a couple extra days.

I am SO looking forward to getting the clearance to set up my pre-op appointment. That's going to be a 4 hour appointment where I'll meet the anesthesiologist, the surgeon again, the dietitian, etc. They'll go over my dietary requirements after surgery in great detail and apparently I get a detailed book as well.

Most of the pre-op appts in July are already filled, so I may not be able to get it in until the last two weeks of August as the surgeon is off the first two weeks of the month. I am hoping that at the very, very latest I will be in and out by the end of September. I think this is a realistic expectation, as I'm being very proactive about keeping on top of the progress with this journey.

I am so looking forward to this, and I can't wait for it to happen. It will be so great to finally be able to lose weight without my health problems getting in the way and holding me back.

Have a shiny weekend!

That's great! I just had gastric bypass on June 21st after nine months of meetings and waiting! It ain't no walk in the park, but I think it'll be worth it. Good luck!
