USA Birthday Barbecue, A Sad Anniversary, Misc.

Monday, July 04, 2016

Today's barbecue will be a test to my willpower, of which I've had little of late. (smiling) Actually, not as bad as it sounds, but I've always loved hot dogs. Yes, those little devils filled will nothing nutritious. And grilled with mustard and sauerkraut are what I could live on if I didn't know better. But I do.

Yesterday was the sixth year since my dear cousin departed. I wish I could say time heals all wounds. Far from my first loss in life, she was the proverbial straw and some things just changed so much inside me that I'm still coming to grips with the changes.

After five months of post-shingles nerve pain in three places, this past week was the first period of time when the pain has somewhat subsided. So what did I do? Of course, I trimmed and trimmed and trimmed. Those three-year old yards that are pics in my SP library are now unrecognizable (in good ways) as the plants have matured and the yards are so much prettier. But trimming was the worst thing I could've done for my arm and now I'm paying the piper. Dumb, I know. But the weather has been unbelievably mild and I wanted to get it done before the heat comes to town in a major way.

Happy Birthday, USA. Wishing all a fun, happy, and healthy day.

I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin and understand how grief does not end, we just carry it differently.
I know your cousin was smiling down, on you, yesterday and I hope that you could feel that.

Hotdogs. Boy I was craving them, as I don't have them often anymore.
We had tangy slaw dogs for the 4th.
Hot dogs grilled with BBQ sauce on a bun, with coleslaw on top. One of the many ways I like them.
    Glad you enjoyed yours.

Glad your shingles is getting better.
I know all too well about overdoing it in the yard, but we do like to take advantage of good weather.
I have way too much to do and this week is oppressively humid and hot. emoticon

Hope you have a good week and feel better, soon.

Sorry for the loss and that you miss your cousin so much, I hope that it gets better with time.
Easy to say though. I enjoy a good hot dog once in a while. Last time was 4 years ago in
Vancouver, ha ha! It was at some markets in Granville Street and these were specialty German
ones. Can still remember the taste.
I hope that you get over the soreness from the gardening. Enjoy your 4th July. emoticon

my mom is now gone 1 1/2 weeks God how I miss her, but I'm getting by and going out and keeping busy, so hope your shingles isn't like my friends' shingles which have never gone away, just worse or better days.

I love Nathan's hotdogs and occasionally have one without the bun. I never feel guilty about it either. LOL.

I know it is hard to go on without your cousin as she was a huge part of your life but I'm certain she would want you to be happy and have a good life. I make attempts to feel close to my cousin and other deceased relatives at times and when I do they visit me in dreams and send reminders of themselves.

I was doing some gardening too and was rewarded with chiggers. LOL.
