I was shown this book by a friend, who cooked up (??) a couple of the recipes in this book. I bought it, because I read the forward, and loved her premise, of eating healthy, and finding really interesting ways to do so.
This book is by Amelia Freer, who first wrote "Eat, Nourish, Glow", which is a wonderful book about eating, living and feeling healthy. I love that word, glow. It describes a feeling that I have really only had in the past year, with eating right, exercise and emotional health.
Freer gets it. She gets that sometimes we want something sweet, and there is even a chapter in her cookbook for treats. She gets that we need to have things taste good, and so many of her recipes are not only good, but innovative and brimming with healthy components.
I have now made a number of the recipes, and LOVE the "Spiced Seeds" in salads, and love "Boy George's Raw Soup". Her recipes are delicious, made with care and thought for health and really focused on fresh produce and eating right.
I love to find great ways to made my obsession with eating right fun. This cookbook, and her book about health that proceeded it, are actually fun. To find a cookbook with Boy George in it, was fun. She turned him into a health nut, obsessed with eating well. HE gave the recipe for the soup to her.
Life is good, life should always be fun. Check out Ms. Freer. You'll be glad you did.
