Lax on tracking (but that's okay)

On super busy days, especially weekends, when I'm out and about, I sometimes get a little lax with food tracking. In the past, I've sometimes waited until the end of the day to look back at photos (or go by memory) to track all my food on these days. What I've found is that if I'm paying any attention at all, I typically break even on calories -- eat around what I burn -- mostly because I'm too busy to just graze on food. And while the food I DO eat is often calorically dense, I'm active enough that it all evens out.
This weekend, after Friday, I decided not to track. I considered not tracking earlier in the week after getting very, very sick -- I overdid it at the gym (even though it felt great running!) and I think I basically overheated myself. This resulted in.. well.. not being able to keep anything down. I simply couldn't eat dinner that night, and had a ridiculous 1300 calorie deficit due to that. (It was probably even higher, but I tracked most of the foods I did it, other than a banana, which was very clear I did not digest). The next day, I ate anything that sounded good because I just needed to refuel, period. BUT, I still tracked all of it (which probably kept me from overdoing it on the peanut butter oreos). Friday, I was still getting back on track, but still.. tracked. But on Saturday, with a friend in town and a lot going on, I didn't track at all. I ate fairly healthy -- I had a salmon egg scramble in the morning that I couldn't finish (probably residual appetite loss) along with potatoes and 1/4 of a french toast dish that we all shared. For lunch, I grabbed a wrap and a juice from Trader Joe's while I was out walking around. And for dinner, I got basil-fried rice with shrimp. Now, I did have plenty of alcohol, so I'm sure I still broke even, but that is really my main goal on days I don't track.
The next day wasn't super healthy as far as individual foods were concerned, but I once again felt myself overheating and had a reduced appetite. So, probably still broke even.
As long as I'm at least moderately conscious of what I'm eating on these days, I really don't go overboard anymore! At least in the summer, that is. In the winter, it won't be the same story ;)
