Its not about deprivation

Saturday, August 13, 2016

I see so many people restricting foods, lamenting about being tired of salads, etc. I see my coworkers load salads with toppings and dressing and know that their "healthy" lunch is now 500+ calories. The idea here is to create healthy, sustainable, eating. This is my lunch (leftovers from dinner). Its a turkey burger made from 93% lean turkey, grilled asparagus, mushrooms sauteed with garlic/thyme/oregano, and grapes. My large dinner plate is full, and guess what? Its about 250 calories. This isnt a fad or a quick fix and then gain it back when you start eating "real" food again. This is forever food.

And so much more satiating! (If that's a word)...I am going to strive to make my lunches look more like this, this school year.
