Got over a bad spot and kept going!

Monday, September 26, 2016

Had a couple of days where I was tired and depressed and felt overwhelmed by life and everything. My husband has postherpetic neuralgia and it flared up and just grounded him-it drives me nuts to see him hurting and not be able to fix it. I lose my motivation and can't think.
We have been together for over 30 years and what affects one affects the other. It took me a while but I got going again one step at a time. Started drinking my water (does coffee count as water?) planning meals, tracking my food. Didn't exercise much but I did start mindfulness meditation, which helped. I felt better, which helped him feel better. This morning the scale actually went down a pound.

It sounds like he has had shingles? I had it in February and the entire year has been nerve pain.

One step at a time is what it takes. It is hard to see someone you love suffering and it is natural to see some depression on his part as well as your own. I count iced tea as water so don't know why you can't count coffee as well. I use Splenda instead of sugar which cuts down on the sugar count (I am diabetic and really have to watch). It sounds as if you now have it under control. Take control and don't let the negative thoughts enter your mind. You can do this. emoticon
