I feel for him

Thursday, September 29, 2016

Today my brother had some computer problems so he called Microsoft. In trying to fix the problem, they deleted his operating system! He was on the phone with them for 5 hours only to find out they couldn't do anything. They told him to take it to a Microsoft store. The closest one is 2 hours away! I'm old enough to remember before computers. My first computer was a Commandor 64, where you had to type in your own programing and if you were high tech you had a cassette recorder to store the programs! On the job, I worked on a computer before there were hard drives. To use WordPerfect, we had to have the program disk in, and to print or spell check, we'd have to take that disk out and put in another disk, which were 5 1/4" floppies. My, we've come a long way baby. But oh the heartache when something goes wrong. I lost all of my stuff a few years ago. Now I have an external hard drive that I back up to.

Here's hoping all is well in your tech world. Have a good night.

LOL Most people hated WordPerfect because of the reveal codes, but I'm like you , I loved knowing what was going on behind the scenes. Try the Show/Hide paragraph mark.

That's terrible. It seems like with all of this technology, some things are becoming more complicated. Thanks for sharing your computer memories. Just today I was at work trying to fix a title on a document that kept leaving a space in the middle and was telling my colleague that I wish we had WordPerfect's reveal codes so we could see what was really going on and fix it in no time. Ha!!
