Shingles nerve pain-my husband is doing much better!!

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Last week I took my husband to University of Cincinnati Medical Center to have a MCS (motor cortex stimulator) implanted inside his head. He has suffered for over a year and a half with searing nerve pain on the upper side of his head that left him disabled-any kind of noise, movement, exertion or stress would make the pain level go up and leave him lying in a dark bedroom with a pillow over his eyes, waiting for the pain medication to kick in.
It was pretty terrifying to have a device actually implanted inside his head. It works by sending a small electric current that blocks the pain signal.
The great news is-it works!! The doctor said they consider a 50% reduction in pain to be successful. I could tell a difference almost as soon as they turned it on. His eyes, his voice-the awful haunted look went away. He looked like my husband again. He is rating the pain at 2-3 now. It used to be 8-10.

It is a miracle, given to us by God, via the neurology team at UC. Thank you Lord! Thank you Dr. M!!
