I have been trying to find the right medication for anxiety. Ell, actually, When I was in school, I took two medications that helped but the doctors now are reluctant to prescribe one of them because "there are too many drug addicts." I understand but at the same time, it is unfortunate for people who take medication correctly and who benefit from it. Even just talking to the primary care doctor ended up being really stressful because he said they just overreacted buyt I have tried to tell him about my anxiety too and he said he was stressed too. Being stressed out and having an anxiety disorder are not the same and then his stupid nurse tried to get me to check myself into the mental hospital all because I asked if it would be possible of we could add an anti anxiety medication and that was uncalled for. My mom was with there with me and we just left because those places are not necessarily about helping people and are an absolute last resort. I just don't want to over worry and have panic attacks. I wasn't suicidal or anything like that so my mom and I left and she bought me a milkshake. I didn't care how fattening it was.
I finally was able to see a specialist but a, still working on finding the right medication.
It is just not right that anything like depression or anxiety gets treated like you are not as intelligent and the stigma is still such a problem. The only hope is the celebrities who speak out but they are so blessed to be able to have the best care possible. The stigma is still there of course and that is something that definitely needs to change.
