I am a (young thinking/acting) 51 yr old mum of one, with a 19 yr old son at university, with a shed load of weight to lose; 229 pounds in total.
I have always been overweight since very young, but in the last 10 years or so I have really piled the pounds on due to life in general.
My weakenesses have always been bread/butter and sugar, not enough water and not enough/if any exercise, and the attitude that I will 'start the diet again tomorrow.'
I have tried many diets over the years, and managed to lose 108 pounds between 2011 to 2012, only to regain all those pounds and more since.
I decided to join SparkPeople because it was recommended to me, and I must say that I am finding it a really fun, motivational, informative and interactive place to be.
I would like to lose 229 pounds to reach my ideal weight of 154 pounds (or 11stones).
I know I need to lose this weight because has I get older I now find that I have very high blood pressure, lymphoedema in both legs, and a B12 deficiency for which I have topped up by my doctor every 3 months.
I am also fed up of always being tired, and never having the energy to do anything.
I want to start living, instead of just exisiting, and I want to lose weight so that I can be healthier, fitter and more active, and to start learning and doing new things like swimming, cycling, and travel more.
My goal is to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week, following a mediterranen based diet with plenty of fruit and veg.
SparkPeople have definitely sparked me into being determined and focused in my weight loss journey this time.
