I find I can make up a ton of excuses when it comes to my exercise.

I am great when it comes to the walking I have two small dogs and also walk for one hour each morning. I read something inspirational and then meditate on it for the walk. I love nature so walk outside and watch for all the messages I get from ( GOD hp or nature) also I have several dance tapes I use when it is too hot ( live in Florida so afternoons can be a bear.l

the hard part comes from getting in the strength exercises usually I am too tired or I just put it off . it is too hard-- I don't like it--not fun--I don't need muscles at my age--are all the excuses I use to not do it. I need to find some things that are fun that will help me get past all the excuses. of course I need to copy nike just do it. lol

    I am good at making excuses when it comes to exercise also! I love how you read something inspirational and then meditate on it while you walk. What a wonderful way to take care of your physical and spiritual health at the same time.

    You sound like me... I love to walk and communion with nature and thank God for all the blessings that have been bestowed.. strength training... not so much!!! I too just have to "Just Do It" emoticon

    now that you know the responses to "time to strength train," you'll have no trouble getting right to it. Right?
    (I'm with you on this one. My usual one is lack of time, but I don't like doing weights, even though I know it is good for me.)

    Have you tried sneaking in the strength training by doing body weight exercise - like squats and lunges - while doing something else (watching tv, talking on the phone)? Start with something small and maybe you will be more willing to choose a strength workout later. Whenever I fall off the exercise wagon, I find doing these kinds of simple exercises is the best way to get myself back on track.

    Great that you walk so much. I love my walking workouts.

    Maybe just take it one day a week for strength training. After a few weeks add another day. It will become a good habit. emoticon I like to put on good music & do weight workouts.

    My excuses for not strength training match yours to a T. If you ever find something that works, let me know. At this time in my life I am willing to eat less instead of work those muscles!
    I do love to walk and have a nice set of stairs that work for me.
