I am so excited I can barely type. (I even typed barley twice before getting it right haha).

I was going to post a blog about the strange things that have been happening to me in the past few months, but now I have a good context to put them into. Yah!

Let's start with the Yah! I am so excited part. That way those that just want the good can quit reading.

On Monday (yes tomorrow) if everything goes well (!!!) I get to start learning to drive a stick shift. Yes, a manual transmission. This topic was one of the first things added to my bucket list when I put that sucker together years ago. Tomorrow the process starts.

Why tomorrow? Well, I bought myself a manual transmission car! Yes, one I can't yet drive. A friend from work went with me over lunch to test drive it and she is going to teach me to drive on our lunch breaks. YAH!!!!! Tomorrow we go to the dealership to pick it up (they were cleaning it this weekend after i bought it on Friday). She is old and grubby, but mine!

I've been reading about it, watching videos about it, and day dreaming about it. I LOVE accumulating new skills!

Can you tell I am excited?

So now that we have looked at the promising future and all it has to offer, lets go back in time to the less than happy past. TL;DR is - several unrelated bad things happened and I needed a new car. Family and Friends are great.

Okay so about 95 days ago, something different happened to DH and I. We had our house broken into while we were at work on Thursday. HE/She/They cut through a window screen, pushed open the window and came inside. They took stuff. Mostly old electronics (think original Wii a friend gave us and camera we bought when we got married 10 years ago) but also some funny stuff like meat and butter. Police were called, but not much they could do.

We were miffed, but the house was otherwise fine and the stuff was either not worth replacing or easily replaced. Moving forward we could use the window locks to prevent entry and the issue was resolved.

49 Days later, our house got broken into while we were at work. The forced open the back door. Christmas presents were opened, replacement electronics stole again (think new camera used for our 10th anniversary trip). Police called. Not much they could do.

UGH! This time we file with insurance since more expensive (i.e. not a decade old) things were stole. We also got more angry. Now the windows are locked and we added a security door to the back. We also now have a board holding our back door shut, since we are classy folks. We have also started looking for a new house. Thinking this is a good hint that we should be elsewhere.

House hunting is a little complicated in that I am the main bread winner and my company is currently merging with another. So sometime in the next 2 months to 3 years I will know if I have a job.... I want to move closer to work, but work might move. But the hunting started. So has some of the fixing of the current house.

40 days later (that would be this past Tuesday) at 230 am someone decided to drive their little Honda civic into both of our cars totaling all three. The civic came up across the drive way striking my BEAUTIFUL blue Ford ranger. It hit with enough force to push it sideways into DHs Impala. The civic also hit the impala. The drive got out and walked away.

So 230 in the AM we are hanging out with the neighbor and police looking at the wrecks. It was a mess. All three got towed away. Insurance called. Took pictures with the camera that replaced our stolen replacement camera that replaced our two old cameras.

Tuesday morning DH and I walked to the rental car place, got a car and went to work. After getting the must haves done, we drove 3 hours to get my MIL's share car before she left the country on vacation, then 3 hours back. Thank you MIL, you are awesome.

So now we have a functional vehicle, while we figure things out.

The driver was uninsured, but I have insurance for that. So this week we will get the official verdict on the two cars. DH is probably a total loss too, but no official word yet. Since mine was hit in the front (I back into my spot) it is most likely a total loss, so I went out and got me a shiny new (used) car.

WHICH I get to learn to drive this week! YAH!

I am so glad DH is okay carpooling for a few more days while I play around and learn. So excited.

Now, I just need to find a house....

Driving the manual has been very exciting! I have enjoyed it a lot. I hope the old car holds out for a few more years so I can really get good at it :).

You have the best attitude. Yay for stick shift - driving on slippery roads will never be the same. Happy New Year!

Oh. my. GOSH! What a run of bad luck. It is quite the testimony to who you are that you are finding the silver lining sin all of it. I wish you nothing but smooth sailing going forward!

    Well. That's being unlucky!
But your positive outcome on the whole situation certainly helps you go through it. It's always a matter of perspective. Things happen. Some bad, some good, some in-bewteen! It's always how we look at it. (I am very new at that "look obstacles as challenge not a reason to crash!" so your blog is very inspiring!
I hope everything goes fine with the learning, do not forget to hold the clutch while you change speed =D
Hang in there, you got this!
