Yay! And check with your Dr. about your meds - even if you have been taking them forever.

Hello Everyone,

Today I experienced a cool thing. My fasting blood sugar was at 122. It has not been that low in a very long time. What changed?

I was in a Diabetes Class about diabetes drugs and was talking with the educator. We figured out that I was taking my medication wrong - for years.

I was taking Glipizide and Metformin with breakfast. It turns out that Glipizide should be taken BEFORE meals.

My PCP, the NP and I did not catch it. They didnt realize I was taking it with food and I didnt realize I wasnt supposed to!

So she suggested I take it before dinner instead of breakfast - that it might help....

Lo and behold! My numbers were down today!

Along with other food tweaks (more protein) I might be on the right track to staying off insulin.

Sparkle On!
