Memorial Day Weekend Update

Monday, May 29, 2017

Hello Sparkles,

It's the last week of the 5% Challenge and all will wrap up well. I don't think I'll lose the 5%, but I will lose. And that's good!

Work is more insane than even I expected. Plus, I'll be traveling for work very soon. I lost weight this 5% challenge but I was not near as engaged as I like to be. I will be sitting out the next go-round entirely. Doing the bare minimum is not who I want to be.

Taking a page from Steph-Knee's book, I started my own version of the 100 day challenge. I can't say if it will be 100 days, but i have been focusing on never going over my max calories. It's working! Who'd have thunk it?

I quit smoking. AGAIN. I know I know. I had picked it up again when dad was really sick, and I've tried a few times to put it down for good. I decided to use this long weekend as the chance to get ahead of it before returning to the office. I'm past the "snippy unkind Dawn" phase. Not that I ever say those things aloud, but I don't like myself even when I think them.

How are you??

Yay for you! It's been a while since I stopped by. I am inspired by your initiative and enthusiasm. My work has been insane as well - but I think you are balancing things better than I!

Good for you. It is hard going through emotional times but you're doing great. I sat out last times 5%. I felt the same way -- I was good on the exercise but the other things...not so much. I'm doing a mile a day challenge from Memorial day to July 4.

I am not going to be doing anymore challenges for a while, the challenges are GREAT but I am not motivated to do them and it isn't fair to the team that I'm not doing the work. And they made it so easy for me to do the work and I still didn't do it. *SIGHS* LOL!

I'm sorry work is so crazy, are you traveling anywhere exciting for work? I understand if it's top secret!

I love that you are focusing on not going over max cals! What I found so funny is there were so many days I wanted to eat 3 million calories, but since 2000 was the max I ate right up to the line and didn't go over. Sadly in the last week I have been eating 3 million calories and just being such a mess! :( But sometimes focusing on a chunk of time makes it easier... and if you don't do 100 days who cares? It's a matter of how many good days you can get under your belt, and I bet you can get a bunch! :D

Congrats on quitting smoking again. I work with 3 ladies who have tried to quit so many times so I imagine it is INSANELY hard but proud of you for trying again. emoticon

Can't picture you a "smoker," and I can totally relate, I use to be one 24 years ago. It is a very difficult habit to kick, but I am sure you have the strength to do it Dawn Dawn! Best of luck! and hugs dear one!

Hi, I would like to tell you how I stopped smoking. It might help you, I hope. Back in 1969 is when they started to show the children films about how horrible smoking was and what it did to your lungs and loved ones. I was begged by four of my children and I thank God all the time what they did for me. I knew I needed help and so I went to the Seven Day Adventist five day plan. They told us to get away from the table after eating if we are use to smoking and any other habit that we have when we did. There were many films and talks. Too many to write. I feel that when you make up your mind to do something you do it.

Do the best ya can ... and leave the rest behind.

I am right on track with my 4ish months of elimination protocol. The scale is messing with me ... but I will triumph.

    I'm doing 100 days, too!

I am a proponent of doing the bare minimum when that's where you're at. (Not saying you shouldn't sit out from the challenge, just that the bare minimum is sometimes the exact right amount of something to do.) Dealing with something hard like your dad's stuff is a good reason to put other things on autopilot.

    Love you!

emoticon One of the hardest things I ever did, and I never, ever have regretted it! It's been 30 years, and I quit cold turkey. Just think of what you can do with the money you're saving!! More socks!!

No, I didn't lose my 5% either, but I've made some good friends and helped solidify a great team that's going to move forward!

You can do this!! From a 34 year , 2 pack a day smoker. "I finally failed at smoking, when I succeeded at quitting" 100th times a charm. Each time you give your body even 24 hours you are doing something great. Keep going!
