I have been entering a lot of Fitbit challenges. Yay, new Fitbit friends. I have not been winning very many. I have some high step getting competition out there.
At first I was a little bummed. After all we enter to win and that was not happening. Then, I started to look at the steps I was getting while trying to win the challenges and realized, I AM winning.
I have logged more steps since I began to pit myself against competitors. When I go to the challenge board and I am only a few steps behind, I have been making an effort to get in those few steps. When I am close to a win and I think I can pull it off yep, you got it, I find those steps as well. Where I once might have been satisfied to reach my 10K a day step goal, the challenges have made me go the ‘extra mile’. Thanks to challenges, I have logged some pretty impressive steps these last couple of weeks. I have met and surpassed my goal, every day. In my book, that makes me a winner.
So don't despair if you don't win every challenge. If you remember that on this journey “your only competition is you,” and if you are better than you were, you have already won. No matter where you place on the challenge board.
I will keep entering and, hey, I may even win once in a while. Whatever the outcome, I remain a winner because, truly, my only competition is ME.
