Boredom Eating?

Wednesday, June 07, 2017

Today I have been bored. Very, very bored. Too hot to be outside. Miserable walking weather. Nothing I wanted to watch on TV. Wasn’t interested in reading. You know what I am saying. BORED! In my ‘old’ life, this was a recipe for disaster. Because when I'm bored, I eat. Correction, I used to eat.

Today, I exercised. That's right, every time I wanted to eat, and was not truly hungry, I got up and marched in place. It wasn't hard work, I wasn’t trying to do speed, or had a specific step goal in mind, what I wanted to do is NOT eat. And I didn't.

I marched in place, every time. Got some pretty impressive steps today. I had a delicious dinner, a sugar free chocolate pudding as a snack, drank water, and walked.

I stayed in control. Boredom eating did not win. Six months ago this story would have had a different outcome. I would be writing about putting today behind me and getting back on track. I am happy to say, this is not going to be a problem today.

Will this always work? I don't know. What I do know is it worked today. It also proves to me that a bad habit can be changed, with a little work.

good for you! It's all about doing whatever it takes when boredom takes hold and not using food to fill that void.
