I am going on vacation next week. I will be going to Florida for my Family Reunion. That's a four day event. That means lots of fun but also lots of food. Plus, I added an additional few days to enjoy and relax after the festivities have concluded. Maybe I can visit Universal, LOL. I am looking forward to it all.
In the past this would have been my license to “go crazy” with the eating part of the vacation. Now, I am actually devising a plan for enjoying without overindulging. Since I practice portion control every day, why not on my vacation as well?
There will be a meet and greet, a banquet, a fish fry, and finally a church supper. Whew! That's a lot of food. Lots of temptation to over indulge. However, that doesn't mean I have to. I am planning to follow my program of portion control, and make the best choices I can. I am sure there will be challenges. In my book, there is nothing better than home cooking. But food doesn't have to be the focus. I have not seen some family for years so part of my plan is to concentrate on the fun. Probably for the first time, I will let the food be secondary during this trip. I will track and I will exercise and I will do my best. I will also log in to Sparkpeople every day because I have a streak going, and it will keep me accountable.
I am not expecting to lose this week and I hope I won't gain. I would settle for a week where my efforts make a difference. However, if I do gain, I will remember that it was just one week. My life is going to have a lot of times when the ‘norm’ is not possible. How I deal with those times will determine the success or failure of my journey. I plan to make it as successful as I can.
Which it will be is up to me. See you when I get back.
