Crashed and Burned

I fell off the SP Wagon......about 2 weeks ago. I was really sad as I had so many good streaks going for me - Logging in for 212 days straight, tracking food for 208, and best of all, my 166 day streak of 10K or more of steps each day.
What happened? Life. I had my 90 year old mom with me for a week. She has Alzheimers. My youngest son and his wife and their toddler flew in from California to be here and to celebrate their baby boy's 3rd birthday. My other 3 grown kids and their families were all here and helped to plan a Paw Patrol party for little Samuel. It was a great time!
So what was the problem? Lack of time to get everything in....no time to get on my computer to log in....no minutes left in the day to get those last few steps in because I was exhausted and needed to go to bed. Cooking lots of meals for everyone. Lots of time supervisiong my 7 grandchildren in the pool. Trying to care of my mom's needs. (Ever given your mom a bath?) Whew! Life was just overwhelming. But being with all my children and my mother was wonderful. I was sad when they all left....tired. When you are 70, you just don't have the energy you had when you were younger!
At first I was very sad that I had "failed" to keep my streaks going. But eventually I came to realize that it would be OK....that I would get back to my routines eventually. i just needed to enjoy my family and all the commotion that comes with having a big family.
Plus - and this is a big plus....my hubby and I will be leaving on a trip to Ireland in 2 weeks, and I thought my streaks would have to end then. Now I don't have to stress about that. I can go and just enjoy seeing a new country for the first time. My husband's family came from Ireland in 1909 and some of his distant cousins have invited us to come and learn about his family history. One of them even owns a castle! So other than dreading that long flight, it should be an awesome trip.
Bottom line is that I might have crashed and burned and lost my streaks, but I am still trying to eat healthy and exercise every day. And perhaps after our Ireland trip I can start some new streaks! In the meantime, I will check in and log what I can, but the pressure is off!
Life is good!
