Happiness Is Not A Number

Wednesday, October 04, 2017

I had a weigh-in Sunday, and I was devastated!

I'm not proud of the fact that I snapped at my sweet little Lily. I put the cat out. She was under my feet and causing me to slow down my inside walking pace! LOL I was short with a friend. I was actually mad at me and said some awful things to myself!

I let a number on a set of scales control me and my behavior. I let this number make me unhappy! Like I said. I'm not proud. I let my circumstances make me depressed.

It's just one number. But my goodness at the power behind this number.

I hope I have put the scales in perspective, but I'm not sure. So I'm putting the all-powerful scales up for a month or so. Maybe then I won't let one number ruin a good day!

Do you need to join me in putting the scales away until they don't control your happiness?

I weigh every morning when I get out of bed. The number on the scale tells me if I am taking in too much sodium. Once a week on my weigh in day, I will chart my weight.

When you know you are eating properly within your caloric range and exercising daily, give yourself a pat on the back. The numbers on the scale will reflect that in due time.

Lily is precious, just look at her expression.

We've all had to deal with unfavorable numbers on the scales so we can ALL relate! I put my scales in the closet before because I was so aggravated!

The scales are only one way to measure success and not a reliable one at that because of so many factors....hormonal changes & hydration levels come to mind first! I weigh daily so I see the normal ups and downs that way...but I still don't like it!

Good for you, Susan. That scale can lie, too. There are a lot of other ways to track your progress than the scale. Look for those non-scale victories - like looser fitting clothing, less bloating, clearer skin, etc.

We can do this! We do the footwork and leave the results to God!

throw the scale out. Walk farther. Lift more. Get out in the fresh air. You are lapping everyone on the couch. Muscle weighs more than fat.
