So I got a good lesson in yesterday, haha!
I think I've mentioned before that I am a big gamer, my husband and I both are. We play a lot of a game called League of Legends. I've also talked about mindless eating. Sometimes I get into a brain dead state when I play games and I convince myself that I'm hungry.
I love the Simple Truth Sweet Potato Chips. They are organic, healthier than normal potato chips, so I usually grab a couple bags at the store for "light" snacking. (lol...)
Yesterday I'd gone most of the day without eating, just because a light breakfast held me over and I wasn't hungry. Then in the evening I started feeling like the munchies when my husband and I sat down to play a couple of matches. I grabbed a diet coke and a bag of my chips....and then they were gone within a couple of games....
Now, I've read over and over on here that you can't just "let go" of a day because you messed up. You gotta just count it and keep tabs on it when you "lose control." Lol, so I did.
I turned that bag over and calculated how many calories I had just eaten of these stupid chips....1,100 calories! Shut the Front Door....
So... I decided it maybe could have been worse. I remember days when I would have eaten that, then a couple hours later had Chinese takeout. I shutter to think of that calorie count... I calmly entered the scary numbers into my nutrition tracker, and I had about 400 calories to spare for the day. So I made a pb and j with some healthy quinoa and flax seed bread and called it a day. I ended the day with about 15 calories to spare. LOL
So, remember that even when you feel you've screwed up, there is ALWAYS something to learn there. I had zero concept of how many calories I was eating, and next time I feel that kind of munchie craving coming on, I'm going to remember that scary number and think about how I have to bust my ass doing cardio for 30 minutes just to burn a little over 200 of those calories haha.
